Getting a new website for our agency has been a wild ride and has taken us exactly 33 days from when we released our logo till today.

While a multiple of AI full website designers seem to be capable of delivering a “pro-level website in minutes,” the problem with the 4-5 AI solutions we tested was that the websites delivered were nothing close to what we wanted.

How AI Full Website Designers Work

1. The Prompt A Website

A number of tools ask you to simply prompt a generic description of website like “Build me a website for a branding agency.”

2. The Website Questionnaire

Some tools mixed prompting with a Questionnaire for preferences such as

• What style do you like?

  • Minimalist

  • Authoritative

  • Friendly

• What color palettes do you like?

  • Option A

  • Option B

  • Option C

The Problem

The problem with all of these approaches is that these AI full website designers have no flows to design a website from scratch which incorporates hard requirements such as:

• Using your specific logo

• Using your specific color palette

• Using your specific copy

• Using your specific page structure (how many pages, what they are)

You end up with a generic website that the AI has generated based on your prompt, which is probably based on some standard generic website for your industry.

The problem for a branding agency like ours is that we are helping clients to differentiate and stand out. It would be a complete fail to then show up to the game with the most generic and uninteresting website possible.

Yes, you could use the generic website as a template to start customizing, but when the entire website was designed with the wrong color palette, pages, flow, images, etc. you are going to spend more time undoing all the work than you will just starting with a blank slate.

Ultimately, we found an amazing web designer which on Upwork which we highly recommend and would use again in the future, and she built and helped deploy the website on Framer.

Rather than try to make our branding agency resemble a Big 4 or law firm’s website, we went with a funnel and offer inspired design to try to stand out.

Yes, we’re short on real world client other than our own personal results, but we are going to own our weaknesses, and hopefully in a few months visitors will see more case studies and testimonials.

We’re super happy with the results, and look forward to start running some ads on this.
